Vintage painted leather pennant souvenir of Banff National Park in Canada with Indian in full headdress. This leather pennant has such great style, the design is both hand painted, and hand drawn in ink as a drop shadow for the painted word Banff and for the dotted pattern running along the edging.
The painted colors are still so vibrant in baby yellow, red, green, white, orange and black. The pennant is finished at the hoist end tied with strips of leather.
Pennants have a long history, beginning in the Middle Ages as signal flags. Pennants may be best known for their use in athletics for team support, but souvenir pennants have been the object of many a collection!
This 1930s era pennant flag is somewhat rare having been made of leather, being in such good condition and being so good looking!
