--

Frankoma ashtray in arrowhead shape and "Desert-gold" glaze. This Frankoma Pottery ashtray has no mark but is known to be #453. The arrowhead shape is a nod to western style and the piece dates from the 1950s. Although smoking has gone out of fashion, this lovely little piece can be used as a sugar bowl, or a change catcher, possible soap dish? Whatever the use, this quaint piece will add a bit of western flare! This vintage Frankoma ahstray is in perfect condition.

Frankoma Pottery began in earnest in 1936, started by John Frank an Art and Pottery teacher at the University of Oklahoma.  The name Frankoma married John Frank's name with the last letters in Oklahoma. Frankoma forged the way for colored dinnerware, which until that point had been primarily stoneware. Frankoma closed its operations plant in 2004.
