Chalkware lamp Native American motif made by the Gritt Mfg. Co. is wonderful! The Native American Indian motif is classic, and surprisingly, all of the plaster is in excellent condition and the painted details are bright, colorful and original! Chalkware items are made of plaster of Paris or sculpted gypsum and are easy to damage, seeing a vintage chalkware lamp in such excellent condition is rare!
This stunning lamp was made during the Depression of the 1930s, it is rare indeed to find a lamp, of this size, without any glued pieces, or touch up painting. Chalkware was a substance used in the making of many household decor items of the era because much pricier items could be used as a mold and reproduced in the plaster.
