The style grew out of an earlier European tradition, Thomas Jefferson was among the first American prominents to display traditional antler racks in his home at Monticello. The fashion of displaying trophy antlers & horns in the 19th century it reached the height of its popularity in the Victorian era with all kinds of Victorian antler and horn furniture.
